Welcome to my website.

I am a painter of life around me. That means cities, landscapes and people. The sublime glimpsed from ordinary places is important to me. But I am also interested in ideas and the history of Western art and architecture.

I have travelled extensively for business and pleasure and a sketchbook is always close at hand. I have been privileged to meet many of Australia and the world’s political leaders, scientists and policy advisers and their images also appear on this site.

I trained part time at the Queensland Technical College and with teachers including Betty and Roy Churcher, Jon Molvig, Andrew Sibley and Melville Heysom. Peter Kennedy, Mike Parr and Mervyn Moriarty were Brisbane contemporaries. I recently studied Baroque technique at the Florence Academy of Art.

I have exhibited in Canberra since 1984 with my most recent solo exhibitions at Form Gallery in Queanbeyan, M16 Gallery in Griffith and the Solander Gallery, Yarralumla. My works are held in private, government and corporate collections in Australia and overseas. My last Canberra exhibition, Only Flowers was at the Form Gallery in Queanbeyan. It opened on 7 September 2017 and sold out. My Bowral exhibition at Wombat Hollow set a new price record at $8950. My current show is at Humble House Gallery 93 Wollongong St Fyshwick ACT from 5 - 27 October, Wednesday-Sunday 10-4pm.

While I have painted for 50 years, and now paint full time, I was better known in a former life as one of Australia's most senior public servants. I was made a Member of the Order of Australia for contribution to national economic reform in 1995, received the Centenary Medal and was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2006.

Please contact me if you wish to discuss any of the works, or just to talk about art.
