Life Class Barcelona 3 – Model’s view (2013)

Barcelona again. This painting conveys the feel of how crowded a life class can be. It is almost from the model’s view. The interest is in the play of light across the model, the tight concentration of the artists (look closely and you will see three jammed together) and the strong ‘still life’ composition of the stools, easels, brushes, jars and painting racks – a painter’s painting. As with the other life studies it is behind glass with a warm white mount and a gallery style, honey coloured wooden frame.
