Kakadu Backwater (2015)
This was painted following a visit to Kakadu with the family when I was Secretary of Environment and Heritage. We were accompanied by Greg Miles, a senior Ranger and a well know naturalist and photographer.
It is hung in the Secretary’s office and is one of the donations I have made of my works, and art from our collection, to the Department’s excellent collection. This collection gathered over the years has a very strong representation of indigenous art, botanical and zoological art and art relating to Antarctica. Of course it has a strong environment and heritage theme and the works are available to the National and other galleries, with some on permanent loan.
