Spring Blossoms (2018)

This was based on crab apple blossoms in our garden, but the background is more conceptual while the sky is one I saw in Sydney! The composition was developed on my iPad using Adobe sketch before I moved to the painting. It references Japanese woodblocks which took Europe by storm in the second half of the 19th century.
